“As good as Herzog’s
Special Reserve Cab
is, this one is better. It
has the same ripely
fruity currant and
cassis flavors, with
the fine tannins and
a luxurious coating
of oak that has been
judiciously applied. But
it goes the extra mile
in finesse and balance,
and is simply superb. Right
up there with the best…”

“Dark and dense,
powerful and generous,
with succulent fruit
and smoky flavors,
all built on a structure
of spine-tingling acidity”

“A very fine
Cabernet, the kind
you like to think you’d
instantly identify
in a blind tasting
as a superior Napa. It
has ripe flavors of
cassis and blackcurrants,
and fabulously rich,
dry, complicated tannins
that glide across the
palate with velvety
smoothness. Oak
contributes the usual
vanilla and smoke to
this delectable wine.”

“From one of California's coolest appellations, this Syrah is inky dark and fairly acidic. It's tannic, but the tannins are rich and fine and drinkable now. The wealth of flavors include blackberries, mocha, the sweet, caramelly vanilla of oak, and peppery spices"

“This
is beautiful
Syrah, a joy
to drink. It
pours dark and
glyceriney, and
while it’s
a bit mute on the
nose, it explodes
in the mouth with
flavors of cassis,
spicy plum, chocolate,
roasted meat, vanilla
and smoke. Hard
to describe the
smooth mouthfeel,
or the fancy aftertaste. For
all the flamboyance,
it’s a dry,
controlled wine,
assured of itself
and in perfect
balance.

“Great grapes have given a lush, fruity wine with ripely sweet flavors of pears and tropical fruits, girded with crisp acidity, and finishing with powerful fruit and spice. Good winemaking has added creamy, smoky oak, and the deft touch that makes this a beautiful Chardonnay.”
